[2hr route]Taipei Riverside Bikeway

This is a flat bicycle path connecting the area near New Taipei/Banqiao Station to Taipei/SongShan Train Station. Travelers can easily rent a bicycle from near Banqiao Station, and after 10-15 minutes of riding on city streets, reach the riverside bike path. Following a two-hour ride passing various riverside attractions along the right bank of the Tamsui River and the left bank of the Keelung River, finally, transfer to another form of transportation at SongShan Station to head to the next destination.

Route Highlights

  • Crescent Bridge 新月橋: This iconic asymmetrical bridge is a perfect starting point. The path here offers a seamless transition from the bustling streets of Banqiao into the tranquil riverside environment. The views across the wide Tamsui River are a great way to kick off the ride.
  • Dadaocheng Wharf 大稻埕碼頭: As we flow north along the right bank, we pass Dadaocheng. This historic wharf area is bustling with activity and is a fantastic place to stop for coffee, local street food, or simply to watch the sunset over the water. It’s a cultural center along the Tamsui River.
  • Shezidao Wetland 社子島濕地: Located at the unique V-shaped tip of land where the Tamsui and Keelung Rivers converge. This section is known for its wide-open landscape, unique ecosystem, and excellent birdwatching opportunities. It provides a distinct natural contrast to the built-up city nearby.
  • The Grand Hotel Taipei 圓山飯店 view from the cross river: s the route transitions onto the Keelung River Left Bank, the stunning traditional Chinese palace-style architecture of The Grand Hotel dominates the skyline. This majestic hotel is one of Taipei’s most famous landmarks and is beautifully visible from the bike path.
  • SongShan Station 松山車站: Our final destination! This key transportation hub is directly connected to both the MRT and TRA train lines, making it easy to return your YouBike and transfer to your next point of interest. It is also conveniently located right next to the famous Raohe Street Night Market, perfect for a post-ride meal.
